Page is called "Top Categories" but the wiki has no categories in the wiki sense. Why is such a useful aspect of MediaWiki ignored?
And why can't I edit my user page? Is that another basic wiki feature ignored here?

You're right, the page title is somewhat misleading in the context of a wiki. "Top Categories" should probably be something like "Most Searched Local Search Categories".
You should be able to edit your user page, it's a mis-configuration if anything. What other basic wiki features are missing? This wiki could surely use some TLC from an experienced wiki-er.
